ALiza shinefield

Facilitator

Aliza is a facilitator in Open Group on Tuesdays. She first became involved in Open Connections in 2014 when she attended Pre-Open Program with her oldest child. After being a part of OC community as a parent, substitute, and volunteer for five years, she is excited to be stepping into the role of facilitator in the 2025-2026 program year.

Aliza earned her B.A. in Media, Culture, and Communication from NYU. She has since worked in multiple fields where she has been able to provide love and support to those in her community. From teaching, to supporting new parents through maternal mental health programing, to assisting families in making meaningful memories as a travel agent, she is always looking for ways to help those around her.

In her free time, Aliza can be found with a book, tending her plants, or planning her next trip. She loves a house full of friends and family where you may be forced to take a plate of food even if you insist you aren’t hungry.  Aliza lives in Bala Cynwyd with her husband Josh, their three young people who all attend OC, two cats, a dog, and 6 fish.
